Pregnant moms, you are not alone! The COVID 19 response team by Make Your Date is here to be your support system. If you need help with food, transportation, jobs, housing, internet, baby items, mental health, want to just talk, (or anything – really) please sign up and one of our team members will call you right away!
We’ve done the research and know which organizations and partners can help out. We have already contacted many of the moms currently in the program; over 1/3 needed food assistance and 1/4 needed help with baby items and transportation.
Please keep your appointments with your current provider. This is not a medical or clinical service.
Do you have a couple of hours a week to spare? Are you home with time on your hands? Would you be willing to extend a helping hand to pregnant moms in our community who feel isolated and alone during the Covid-19 crisis? When pregnant moms are skipping their OB appointments because they’re afraid of infection, or if they’re stuck at home without food or supplies, who can they turn to?
WSU’s Make Your Date program is reaching out to them. We’ve assembled resources for food, transportation, medical and mental health support, even items for the baby.
But we need volunteers to stay in contact with these moms to help them through the Coronavirus scare.
So what would you do? We’re asking for volunteers to each take responsibility for 5 pregnant moms who have enrolled in the Make Your Date Covid-19 Response Program. What we’re asking is that you make two contacts a week, with each of these pregnant women to check in on them. Basically, it’s 10 phone calls or emails a week. But you’ll be able to open a world of resources at a time our pregnant neighbors most need them.
How can you be a part of providing life-changing support?
Volunteer by e-mailing info@makeyourdate.org with “COVID19 Response Team Volunteer” in the subject line and give us your name, your address and phone, and tell us a little bit about yourself. One of our team members will contact you, explain the program’s details, and take you through the list of medical, food, transportation, and other resources your pregnant moms may need. Of course, they might just need someone to talk to.
After that, if you agree to volunteer, we will give you the names of up to five pregnant moms who have reached out asking for this help. If you think is too many, we’ll assign you a smaller number. Then, you’ll contact pregnant moms initially and then a minimum of twice a week until they deliver or until the Coronavirus epidemic is over.
If you can spare a few hours a week for someone very much in need, please e-mail info@makeyourdate.org and join this important effort.
